
The British Association for the advancement of science has launched the CREST Investigators scheme for primary school children. The SETPOINT can provide a resource pack (and support) for activities that encourage thinking about, talking about and doing science. This structured programme rewards children at Star, Superstar and Megastar level and recognises Young Science Ambassadors.
This is run at county level in Peterborough and Cambridge by SETPoint Cambs. The winning teams are entered for the Regional finals organised by SETPOINT Essex.

IOP lecture on ‘Light – Bonfires to Lasers’ delivered by SETPOINT Cambs with amazing equipment to study the properties of light, donated by The Ogden Trust.
IOP Outreach Programme - Electric Circuits
The students learn about electrical circuits, sensors and program control for robots and build a ‘Jiggle Bot.’
We are taking bookings for Dr Koenig’s Water Flea Investigation for KS1 children. Children can collect the water fleas and then examine them under the microscope. The children learn about body parts of water fleas-Are they like us? This exciting life sciences activity includes making a water flea collage.
The physics and mathematics of bridge building! Pupils learn about forces, use of triangles in stable structures, working with materials to increase strength. Pupils use computer software to build a bridge, construct tetrahedrons using paper technology, build bridges with K’nex and test to destruction.
A range of student motorsport competition and projects, as well as programmes for all ages from primary school up, is now brought together in the Learning Grid. Pupils can learn the fundamental principles of engineering, seeing how they apply in everyday life, and can even learn how to design, create, develop and race their own cars.
