The primary function of the SETPOINT is to serve as a single authoritative source of information for teachers about the local and national STEM resources and activities which are available to enrich their teaching and to offer both advice and assistance in delivering these activities to schools. In particular we can advise on the use of Science and Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) as the interface with young people. The SETPOINT Cambridgshire Team

Beacon East broker and organise a wide range of exciting professional development opportunities for teachers, lecturers, advisers and other education professionals. Professional Development Placements (PDPs) form the main focus of this service and offer a unique form of professional development. In essence, PDPs allow teachers/advisers to visit businesses/organisations to enhance and support their curriculum area. A great deal of this work has successfully supported STEM related subjects and has led to further links with those organisations. PDP has proved to be an excellent vehicle to not only improve employer engagement with cutting edge organisations such as the British Antarctic Survey or Perkins Engines, but enliven subject delivery. It also aims to motivate both teachers/students and support sectors were there are definite concerns with recruitment.
