Nuffield Science Bursary Scheme
The Nuffield Science Bursary Scheme is for students in the first year of their A-level course. The scheme gives them the opportunity to join a real research project with practising scientists in any area of STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), that interests them. Projects run for four to six weeks in the summer vacation and students receive £75 a week bursary.
SETPoint Cambridgeshire are looking for hosts to provide projects for our Nuffield Science Bursary applicants for a period of at least 4 weeks over the summer. These are not work placements, but projects which provide the students with experience of scientific research in STEM fields, which have well defined outcomes achievable within the time available and which will contribute to the work of the host organization.
We welcome hosts from academic, commercial and industrial organisations.

The Learning Grid - Rockingham Festival 2008
Rockingham Festival is the Learning Grid’s annual three day celebration of science, maths and engineering - 1st to 3rd July 2008.
Now in its second year, Rockingham Festival gives young people from 8 to 16 the chance to try hands-on activities and be inspired by real-life opportunities in science and engineering.
Teachers are invited to bring a class or a whole year group for a day out that combines learning and entertaining through a variety of workshops, shows and race events.
In 2007, over 2,100 pupils and 241 teachers from 54 schools across the UK came to the Festival. 97% of teachers agreed that the activities offered curriculum enrichment opportunities that were relevant to their pupils and 92% said they would like to get their school involved next year.
